Sharp on the outside, sticky on the inside
Beautiful work..love the color combo! That is inlay? If so, beautiful choice of materials. My g-g-great grandfather was one of the formost craftsmen in marquetry back in the 1840-70's and until his passing in the 1890s. He did some intricate floral inlay in woods, staining each piece with his own dyes. You can see some of his inlay work at [link] (Click on the small grey 'arrow' on the left and above the picture...you need your screen resolution set to at least 1024x768)

Smile!! It keeps everyone wondering what you've been up to!
Unfortunately this is just computer generated, but I'd love to try working with wood. Your g-g-great grandfather's work is awsome! It would be nice to take a closer look.
I don't know if you noticed, but on the subsequent pages to that link that I included before, the pages are interactive and you can see some close up shots of some of the inlay sections. One of his tables is in the governor's mansion in Illinois and another is in the Smithsonian. Both of them were in that display at the Milwaukee Art Museum a couple years ago. I have a few pictures of some of his work that came to me via the museum in Neillsville Wisconsin where some relatives of my grandmother's cousin's husband had left a couple boxes of her genealogy research materials after their estate sale. I was like a little kid getting a big gift at Christmas...LOL It's going to take me a while figuring out who all those ancestors are...LOL :D

:blushes: I wasn't paying attention and missed the grey arrow! :)
Unless one has the screen resolution set to 1024x768, it's pretty easy to miss that little grey triangle ''arrow'' in the upper left of the screen to advance to the next webpage at that site. I had a bit of troubel when I first visited that site with mine set to 800x600. They could have picked a better color so one would notice it easier. :D My grandmother had a small box that he had made and I was impressed with how smooth the finish and fit of all the pieces were. I'll have to see if my grandmother's cousin had any more photos of his work pieces in the box I haven't searched yet. And, I'll have to post them in the gallery once I have them scanned. :D

By the way, glad you enjoyed your visit to my gallery, too! :D
